- Haiti Relief Effort
The Sommerville Community will be hosting a charity book sale on March 8th-10th in the school library. Any gently used book donations can be dropped off at the school office or library by March 4. All proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Society.
Sommerville’s Haiti Relief Effort has raised over $ 1,100 from donations to:
- the Help for Haiti jar outside the front office
- our Toonies for Haiti civies day on Friday, January 29th
- the sale of Rainbows of Hope bookmarks designed by the Grade 2 and 3 students
- the proceeds from Tuck Shop on Thursday, January 21st
| Sommerville’s contribution will be matched by the federal government, bringing the total that we are able to send to the people of Haiti through the Canadian Red Cross to well over $2,200! Thank you to all Sommerville parents, students and teachers who contributed to this great effort! |
