Parents are highly visible at Sommerville and their interest is welcomed. The school Parent Association is a group of enthusiastic and devoted parents who actively work toward creating an atmosphere of unity and school spirit. The Sommerville Parent Association was formed when the school opened in 1992; since then, we have had many events organized by this very active group of parents. Each year the parents of the school are invited to elect an Executive Committee which meets once each month. Once each year the executive arranges for a General Meeting to which all parents are invited. When your family joins Sommerville, you automatically become a member of the Sommerville Parent Association, also known as SPA.

During the school year the Executive Committee will organize special events for the children. SPA also offers a used uniform sale twice each year, and has used uniform items available throughout the year for those children who join the school after term begins.

Each year SPA hosts one major fund-raising activity that requires a significant amount of planning. This activity is usually held in the spring and has proved to be a fun-filled event for everyone. All monies raised by SPA from fund raising events are always used to buy things for the school.
